FIENDS
I asked DM Ilsensine a question about Drow Racial Purity, specifically in regards to breeding with fiends; the general term for evil outsiders. I used incorrect terminology so he supplied the correction. In short, Drow crossbreeding with Daemons (CE Outsiders) of Glabrezu status or higher is tolerated. Crossbreeding with Daemons of lower than Glabrezu status, Devils (LE Outsiders) and Yogloths (NE Outsiders) is forbidden. DM Ilsensine's enlightening reply (with a few spelling corrections):
Cross breeding is seen as an abomination, in Szith and in any other Lolthian city, though there are houses who cross breed secretly with humans to become more physically strong. Also breeding with fiends is quite a blessing for the Yathrin who manage to survive the process. Cross breeding with fiend and most of the time with Glabrezu daemons is seen as a blessing from the queen herself, the creatures known as Draegloths, the combination of drow and Glabrezu. Draegloths are holy creatures and symbolize Lolth's favor over the mother of this child, by granting her such a powerful creature and by aiding her in surviving the pregnancy.
Cross breeding with other fiends who are lesser then Glabrezu or are not daemons at all like Devils and Yogloth is forbidden, for they will most of the time represent forces who appose the Abyss and therefore appose Lolth.
(In case you don't know):
Fiends is the general term for evil outsiders.
Daemons are Chaotic evil outsiders from the Abyss.
Devils are Lawful evil outsiders from the nine hells.
And Yogloths are Neutral evil outsiders from the rest of the lower planes (Pandemonium, Carceri, The gray waste {Hades}, Gehenna)

DRAGONS
Next, I asked DM Ilsensine about Drow crossbreeds with Dragons resulting in Half Dragons. I posed the question; is the practice of breeding half-dragons considered taboo, discouraged, acceptable, or cherished? DM Ilsensines response (with a few spelling corrections):
Shadow dragons are the most common dragons in the UD, though red dragons can be found there also.
Half dragons can survive in a Lolthian city... though they are not pure blooded drow, and are much more likely the best sacrifice Lolth can ask then anything else. Some houses might wish to mix their blood with dragons to become more powerful though it stands against Drow principles. In a house half dragons will be used (yes like tools) as body guards and shock troops, that are a bit better then the common ogre or minotaur slaves. They will never gain any rank in a noble house, mostly because of the fear that other houses will discover this and use this knowledge against them.
Remember that half dragons have visual deformities; all of them have scales (bonus to AC) and reptilian eyes (blind fight), and some of them even have tale and wings.
Again, a house might wish to mix it's blood with dragons to gain more powerful offspring but the temple of Lolth is apposing such behavior, mostly because of the Drow principle of pure blood and secondly because of fear. _________________ De'Lara, Ilharess of House Morcane

I see some references where Drow are freely creating cross breeds with dragons and other references where the Drow are keeping it secret. I will ask about drow dragon crossbreeds. _________________ De'Lara, Ilharess of House Morcane |

I have a bit of free time and I am looking for that kind of information all over internet
I have found this (I will add anything else I could find later)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote: | BLACK
Half Black Dragons are big and mean with fierce tempers. Most are half Human, or Half Drow. Most become fighters, smaller ones tend to become thieves or bards.
Alignment Tendency: Chaotic Evil
Appearance: Glossy jet black skin, larger then average human heavy set with muscles. Black, red or yellow eyes. Black, Red or White hair. Sometimes mistaken for Drow. |

In fact this case cand be "read" at the 5th book of the Spyder Queen War. I will not say who of them is the crossbreed , just in case somebody didn't read it still
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote: | Half-Dragon
[ Monster Manual p.214-15 ]
[ Monster Manual v3.5 p.146-47 ]
A dragon's magical nature allows it to breed with virtually any creature. Conception usually occurs while the dragon has changed its shape; it then abandons the crossbreed offspring. Half-dragon creatures are always more formidable than others of their kind that do not have dragon blood, and their appearance betrays their nature--scales, elongated features, reptilian eyes, and exaggerated teeth and claws are the norm. Sometimes they even have wings.
This is an inherited template that can be added to any living, corporeal creature.

I have the Monster Manual and the City of the Spider Queen Quest module book so I will look at them to check if any interesting information coud be found. |
