It seems like a lifetime ago, when Szun was the 5th daughter of the 3rd sister of a Ilharess, of a proud house with a long history. The House had seen better days but was still strong among thier rivals, so it seemed at least.
Animosities beetween serveral houses put Szuns homecity in a all out civil war.
After month long battles in the streets and surrounding aeras Szuns house was overtaken by 2 lower houses wich combined forces. Many nobles died or were captured and executed. Szun herself, found to be not importend enough , was imprisoned, totured and the men had thier way with her...
During that time she gave birth to a daughter, wich she named Vi'rin. Befor Vi'rin could walk, she was taken from Szun and she thought she never see her again...
One day her captors house was attacked in the night, fighting sounds spilled through the corridors for hours. The guards distracted Szun managed to sneak past the outer walls and escape.
Leaveing her homecity was a hard thing, leaveing her daughter behind, nearly ripped her apart, but she had to escape.
During many month of travel, visiting several drow citys and a few settlements near the surface, she had to deal with a lot to survive wich she would rather forget.
The journey ended in Szith...
The temple took her in and she could be once more a yathrin and to be proud to be a drow.
Many month ago a message reached Szun from her former homecity, that her daughter was a trainee in the temple of Lolth. (in her homecity)
She packed her bags, said no aluves and left Szith to get her daughter.
Long hard days of travel lead her finaly to her former home, but all she found was ruins, some still warm from fires.
The few who still lived there told a story she could hardly belief, but had to trust to be true...
The city was so weakend by the civil war, that several deepdwarf clans took the chance and raided the city and raised it to the ground.
to be continued... |

My Name is Vi'rin, adopted daughter of Ilharess Vahal'rod Va'shalee,
who came to power during the house wars...
My mother told me that i was born as a daughter of some unimportend Yathrin of a rival house early in the war. During the war that house was destroyed by her mother and a allied house, wich soon later was incoporated into house Va'shalee, after a rather ingenius assasination of thier Ilharess.
(of course noone knew that Vahal'rod had her hands in that assasination)
Life was good as a daughter of a Ilharess, who must have angered Lolth at some point, because she could not baer children of her own...
I went to temple as a trainee to become a Yathrin and maybe one day rule house Va'shalee, if you ask me it rather be sooner then later if you get my meaning!
Well, all went downhill not long after my 1st year in temple...
Anewed hostilities in the city send waves of murder through the streets.
It was so bad that many houses hiered mercenaries from nearby dwarven clans to fight the battles for them. That proved to be very unwise in the end.
I was in my 2nd year in the temple when those mercenaries "invited" friends... the fighting was fierce and for the first time all houses fought on one side!
But the city was weak ...to much infighting had diminished the city to nearly half thier former population.
It was a fight to the death, i wish i could have done my part, but I was to young to participate.
I do not know the full extend of the havoc the dwarven army wrecked on the city, it must have be devestating...
not long after the fighting ended a group of dwarfs came to the temple and took all trainees as prisoners.
It was a harsh time for me, daughter of a Ilharess as a slave! But i was to young to fight, so i had to obey...at least until i was grown up...
The time with the dwarfs i rather forget, i spare you the details, and me.
One night i was sleeping on the rather cold floor, covered with what i would have called rags only 2 years earlier... a hand covered my mouth and a soft voice told me to be quiet and i would be free soon!
I made no sound, or at least i tried not to, to my best ability.
The escape send my heart on a race, i did not know that women who took me from my captors, but she must not have spared a guard, some of them had lost thier head ...with a clean cut right through the throat!
The first few days after the escape we did barely speak at all. That drow women had something familiar, but i could not put the finger on it.
Only after a weeks travel she told me to be my mother...
I must have been in shock for the better part of a day...
I beliefed her dead, at least that what i was told..and now there she was, my saviour!
Our journey ended in a city called Szith, not what i was used to, but by Lolth! much better then beeing a slave to the druegar!
Once again i was free and in a Lolth temple, i was eager to finish my studies to serve Lolth outside the temple and if i had a chance pay some homage to the barrelchests...
My mother, she left me to do as i wished, but was there with guidance and support when i neede it. She now moved to the tradepost of Q'os to find herself in seclution, so she says.
I belief she went through a lot to find me, but she never talks about it...
...................
I am out of temple, at last! I am a Yathrin, my armor polished, my weapons in best condition.
Lolth guides me every step of the way, I shall not fail her! |

P.S. all informations covered in the backround(s) are not common knowledge other then Szun disapearing for month, comeing back with a girl to be trained in the temple and leaveing Szith behind to live in Q'os.
Szun sometimes shows a rather undrowlike behavior towards males wich can make some ppl uneasy, resolting from the adventures she had to undertake, but does not discuss with anyone.
She appears to be rather polite towards males, but dont be fouled... the snake can smile and bite in the same second...
Neither would Vi'rin discuss any of the backround with anyone ...for now...at least nothing beside she came to the temple from a far off city that no longer exists to end the training as Yathrin in the temple in szith
you get my drift...
