Sonia smirks at this title she seems to have earned among some of the noble drow in Szith. "I suppose it fits," she says quietly in her meek, unassuming voice. She walks from the market towards the center of Szith. As she reaches the circle she looks around and sees no one of particular note, so she glides over to her favorite lamp post and sighs. She pulls the chopsticks from her hair, letting the candescent waves tumble down into a more natural shape, and closes her eyes, recalling the last few days...

When I first entered the city..Lloth seemed to have chosen my fate immediately. I had been singled out by a certain female caster who referred to herself in the third person as "Honored," which I found rediculous. She proceeded to burn me with her acidic spells and firey staff. I let her do so, my stubborn pride refusing to let her win the satisfaction of my pain. My calmness seemed only to provoke the overzealous woman. Another looked on, though I cannot remember her face..things blurred together after I had been whipped on the face with the barbed weapon. Yet I was patient and watched.

Though it didn't seem enough for the sorceress, even after pain betrayed me and I asked her why? Why was she doing this? She needed no reason and dragged me towards the Sorcerie. I was shamelessly dragged by my hair down hallways, through rooms stacked with books..I could feel all the pairs of red eyes on me. "Who is this rothe?" they must have wondered..Though my worst indignity was yet suffered. Yet I was patient and watched.

The sorceress pulled me towards the center of this room..and she told me to stay there and walked towards a scroll and began writing. My cheek had quit bleeding and I looked around. Males. Casting males. All with their eyes on me. All with a twisted smile..They knew they would soon see a show, a chance for this "Malla" to showcase her power over me. Yet I was patient and watched.

"Strip" she told me. What? Me? No..How could she expect one such as me to-"strip" she repeated. What was worth more...my pride or my life? My pride I answered bitterly, my very thoughts laughing at the situation I was in. I did. I stood naked in the middle of the room. Never before had any other eyes but my own seen my form devoid of clothing. The jaluken faern stirred..Their bloody red eyes drinking the sight of me in. I wanted to scream and make all of them pay for this utter molestation of my pride. Yet I was patient and watched.

Then..my skin started to burn..Like a million imps were digging into my flesh with tiny needles, and I looked down at my arms, my body..Words were appearing on me. "RUDE!" .. They mocked me. What a show of the "Malla's" boredom. Rude, was I? Never. I'm civilized. She made me kiss her cheek. I wanted to spit on it, but I complied, worried what else she would do to my complexion. Then she told me to run. I ran. I was not patient. I clothed myself as I ran and pulled my hood up to hide my weakness.

It was a test from Lloth, praise Her. She tested my patience and rewarded me with the favor of not one, but multiple yathrinen. Two houses seeking my allegience? I liked this position, though was disappointed in myself. I wanted to go unnoticed. I wanted to observe the behaviors of a truly Llothian society then..perhaps leave? But it seems that was not the plan She had for me. So I bowed, I went through the motions and I watched.

Modest smiles and humbleness before the superiors. Who would have thought the formula for favor would be so easy? I'm shocked at the praise I've received..I've hardly done anything of note. Not to mention I'm phsyically weak and unassuming. Most others tower over me, male or female. Though, it is another blessing from Lloth, for who would suspect me of anything spectacular? Since I cannot go by completely unnoticed, then I shall simply continue to quietly leave footprints and smiles in the minds of the Important Ones. I've already observed enough behavior to favor this blue-clad house slightly. They are less brash and are strong in number..Though I'll admit the number only matters if you have disposables at the bottom (one can only hope). So I smiled, I bowed, and I watched.

She opens her eyes and lets out her quiet, breathy laugh. "The Watchful One" ... L'Kyorl'urn Uss. "It's fitting," she repeats. "Wonder how long it will stick?" She flips her head forward and runs her hands through her hair, then twists it back into place on the back of her head and sticks the chopsticks into her hair, brushing some of the stray curls from her eyes. Footsteps from behind her and then a voice "Found your way to your spot again, jabbress?" Sonia looks over and up to see the blue eyed male again...

Nice story, the stuff with Maya was funny. Sonia easily passes my favorite benchmark of believability. Her speech, emotes, and actions seem genuinely deep, interesting, and realistic...nothing lame, forced, or silly. Very much like it : )

Considering the circumstances, Elvanshalee assigned a single task to Sonya; the test of Dominance. She would have to seduce, use or manipulate another Drow. If this was succesfull, she would prove worthy for House Morcane.

Elvanshallee rubbed her hands, as she had greater plans for Sonya. This was only the beginning...

The induction was as she expected and nothing more nor nothing less. Reverent, somber, and not to mention a little foreboding. After being struck on each shoulder by Drenn's mace she stood and bowed to Lloth, uttering a prayer in her head for favor, then to the yathrin in the room, Drenn and Elvanshalee. Aly continued to add delicious drama to the induction with her beautiful musics.

She was given her task and she tried not to show too much excitement. This was going to be..interesting. Should she prey on an easy target? How would they know when she finished her task? Would there need to be witnesses? So many questions, but she was eager to seal the deal on her induction.

Selfishly, she grinned to herself...She couldn't wait to see a certain jalil's face when she found out Sonia had become another name on the Morcane roster.

As a closet follower of Helm, The Watcher, blue-eyed Ceil appreciates Sonia's watchfulness. He tried asking about her background and motivation, but she did not give him many details. She did however mention a port city that worshiped other gods in addition to Lolth, such as Eilistraee. Ceil warned her about using that name in Szith, but sensed in her a kindred spirit, one that was not necessarily in line with Lolth's will but was capable of watching, tolerating, and working around it rather than against.

After studying her for a few more cycles and thinking over his impression, Ceil decides to offer her what help and protection he can. It's not much in a dangerous Lolthian city like Szith, but he thinks she'll at least be receptive to his advice.

Despite the recent succes with his contact and finding a new Rothe Fargoth was swearing and breaking a few pieces of furniture in his room. The former shebali Sonya had been picked amost from day one by yathrin Elv. She had not earned a noble position with blood like he had. She had walked in from the streets and been ever-wise about the law. Even to the point where yathrin Elv was willing to have her help with a possible trial against house Morcane. Nau, Fargoth was certain she was no good, she dident even carry a weapon most of the time, at least not visible.
He hadent meet her after she became a noble, for which he was grateful. He would have to bow and accept orders from her now. It ate at him, having to bow to someone who did not earn their position. But he knew he would bow, nothing would be gained by offending the house females.

Nothing to be done about it now, he should have killed her before she became a member....who would have thought it went so quickly.

Fargoth is gonna turn red when he have to bow to Sonya, hehe

((not a real story as much as jealosy from seeing Elv appereantly trust a stranger with the fate of house Morcane when we thought we might have to go to trial. Been RP'ing it..and then she becomes a Morcane...Fargoth is petty about things like that and dont trust people too much unless his certain they are capable in battle, a simple but petty outlook on life Twisted Evil

Hehe 18 base but she's got eagle's splendor on a lot so it's like 22 XD.

Sonia wandered into Szith, humming a tune Aly had sung earlier at breakfast. She made it to the circle where she saw Maya and that..shameful female. Ugh. That jalil will rub up against anything with legs for attention.. she thought haughtily. She quietly scolded herself for her haughty nature as of late. She was trying to be unassuming, but it was hard not to feel slightly above the lower ones, considering her old standing in Lith My'athar. Oh well, that was her old life.

Eventually a new shebali jaluk wandered into Szith with scruffy hair. She admired his tall, strong frame and was surprised when she saw him reading from a spellbook. After her quick assessment of the shebali she went back to watching the commoners and nobles alike..As they walked by..Running errands..fighting..It was all a play. She smirked and thought All the world's a stage... After a while she got bored and decided it was high time to go and patrol. Lloth knows she needed to start training anyways so she could be of better use to her house.

Sonia's eyes wandered around to find someone to go with since she was, unfortunately, too weak to face the caves alone very easily. She saw no one until her eyes rested on the jaluk with his nose in a book. "Jaluk," she ordered, "Come here." He obeyed quickly and without sass, which was refreshing considering her recent encounters with unhoused males. She told him to ready himself, for they were going to go into the caves to reduce the goblin population by a consideral number. He quickly obeyed and Sonia smirked to herself.

And so they ran through the caves, fighting off the goblins. They eventually got a good strategy going that worked flawlesslyl each time. The jaluk would cast one of his spells to cause them to fall asleep and Sonia would proceed to behead each one while they slumbered. A .. satisfactory .. wizard. she noted mentally. She was then taken aback when he pulled a greatsword from his back and started to cleave the goblins in two with one swing. A wizard...and more. Watching him, she realized that he had potential..A wizard that swung a large sword like a soldier, how intriguing. She would rather see him with her house than..in an opposing house. She would mention him to her fellow Morcanes and walked back to the house to hopefully catch one of the yathrin to mention him to. She felt that she had used sound judgement and thoughtfulness in all things previously, so perhaps they'd trust her judgement with this one.

She made her way to her room and pulled on her bedclothing,let her hair down, and went to bed...

Eleuthera Morcane witnessed Sonia demanding a piece of cloth from Maya's bedsheets from a jaluk of the Ust house Mori'hyanda. What a strange request she though... even stranger would be, if the jaluk indeed does he was told...

Aly'Ffyn had met this "satisfactory fearn" last cycle... she was not very impressed but then again not many jalukul impressed her. Aly inspected this jaluk closely and he seemed of good stock for a shebali and maybe could be of use. Aly warned this fearn that he traveled with one of true noble blood and that if she was damaged in any way it would be his head... Aly would make sure of that!

As Sonia makes it back to the house she wears a frustrated expression. Too many...filths.. she thinks with a furrow of her brow. Why are there so many nondrow walking around without masters t accompany them? Is there someone letting them in? ... They should be found... This is unacceptable. She rounded a corner in a hallway and came to a dead end. She hadn't been paying attention to where her feet had carried her. Her thoughts were her only focus.

With a sigh, Sonia backtracked until she found the staircase that lead to the noble's rooms. Someone has to do something... was her final thought as she closed her door and locked it.

On an ooc note, what is with all the non drow walking around and they get sort of ignored. Heh, I figured they'd get like confronted and held hostage until they were confirmed to be a slave or something.

There's nothing uncommon about slaves in drow society, Menzoberranzan for instance is only 1/3 drow.

If people want to play slaves...let 'em play slaves. We give the orders then ; )

Heh hadn't done any IC post in a while so I'll do that now heheh...my memory is a little fuzzy on specifics since this happened a couple days ago XD

Standing in the middle of Szith as she usually did, sharing casual conversations with Nawen and a male. Occassionally a shebali would approach her and pay her for a bag of small, dried up mushrooms. She explained to Nawen and the unhoused male that eating one of these mushrooms causes to brian to experience psychadellic effects. Sonia smirked and said she only ate one once, then decided to sell them.

Eventually Celith wandered up and asked to see one of the mushrooms, and Sonia obliged, stealing a smirk over to Nawen. After saying they looked rather normal he crushed one up and put it in his mouth. At first he said he felt no effect, then he began to act very oddly, much to the amusement of Sonia and Nawen. He spoke of bugbears with a stash of potions andhow he was close to finding them!

While Celith was walking around and speaking nonsense, the demonic rothe of Kor'ali wandered up and started to speak to him when he asked it a question. Sonia remarked to Celith as an answer to his question and the rothe said "I believe he was talking to usstan and not dos."

Sonia was shocked that the rothe would have such gall as to correct her, a noble drow woman. Though, once Sonia fully recognized who the rothe was her shock lessened..This rothe had acted rudely to her before. Obviously, she couldn't let this behavior go unpunished. She scolded the rothe, making sure to let it know how inferior it was, yet it continued to be rude and even dared to say Sonia was unattractive.

Halfwhere between amused and furious at the rothe's boldness, she looked back at Nawen questioningly. So, finally fed up with the rothe's impertinence she felt she needed to take physical action. She walked right up to Ivy and grabbed her hair, pulling her head down to her own level. She then rammed her palm upwards at Ivy's nose, smirking when she heard the nose break out of place. Behind her she heard the male comment that for such a small jalil, she could handle herself well. Tch, always underestimated. she thought haughtily. She then pulled Ivy to the ground and told her to be quiet and respectful. Unfortunately for the slave, it continued to speak back and goad Sonia.

Sonia unstrapped her bow and answered Ivy's mocking with three arrows, fired at point blank range, into her legs. Starting to get bored, and seeing that the slave wasn't learning it's lesson, she called Nawen over, whom she knew could probably get the message across clearer. Sonia smiled and let Nawen handle the rest of it. As Sonia walked back to the circle she wondered why the Kor'ali had let one of their slaves get so bold.

Sonia stood in the middle of Szith, like any other day. Sighing boredly, bowing to the Ulathtallar, exchanging witty comments with Nawen. There was also a young shebali, Naraviel, that she spoke with briefy. The young jalil expressed interested in joining a noble house. Another to add to Morcane ranks, no doubt. Sonia thought haughtily.

A simple jalil approached her and asked her to kill gols with her. Sonia rolled her eyes and waved the stranger off dismissively, telling her to find a jaluk to go with. The jalil then ran away..Strange... A few minutes later the one known as Rath from the Mori'Hyanda house addressed Sonia, telling her that a jalil is wounded in the gnoll cave and he needed someone to help her. Sonia scolded him for being so useless and for leaving the jalil alone in the cave instead of bringing her to the center. Then, Sonia reluctantly unstrapped her bow and told Rath to lead her to the wounded woman. Before she left, the young Naraviel requested a quick word. She told Sonia that something seemed off and warned her to be cautious. Sonia nodded and told the jalil that if she was not back in a few minutes to come and find her.

Rath then lead her to the gnoll cave where a woman was wounded, face down. There was a lot of blood. Sonia moved quickly to the woman and kneeled, assessing the damage. She furrowed her brow, looking the woman over. There're no marks...no wounds...Something isn't right here. As she stood to turn to Rath, he pulled his greatsword slowly from it's sheathe and told Sonia that she had been disrespecting his Queen. That his "Queen" was not happy with these alleged insults. He moved forward quickly and grabbed her by the throat, grinning sadistically. Then he tossed her onto the ground where she glared up at him.

Sonia knew she was outmatched. Rath told the woman behind her that she did well and she heard the woman stand. She was surrounded and didn't have the strength to take both of them at once. Almost as if on cue, Naraviel appeared from the shadows behind them and said, "That is about enough." Sonia quickly looked back and yelled, "Quick! Run to the center and tell the Ulathtallar I have been attacked!" Naraviel started running towards the exit of the cave and Rath yelled to stop her. Sonia pushed herself up quickly and leaped forward, trying to tackle him away from Naraviel. As she did so, he turned and she felt something cold slide through her entire body. He scoffed and slid her off of his sword, leaving her laying, ironically, in the same place the "wounded" jalil had been. She heard a voice she recognized tell Rath that they should run, and she heard them run deeper into the cave.

She knew the voice..she knew it..everything was so fuzzy. Her blurry vision locked onto the exit of the cave, hoping to see someone come through it. Then everything became black....

Sonia has been seen around Szith again, after a long absense. She was seen telling Nandra she made small sport of humans at Qo's during this absense, but who can be sure what really happened. She doesn't seem different in any way and has gone back to her usual watchful nature as if she had never left in the first place.
