Fate could not have been more cruel. That is at least how Radra viewed her life. Her sharp mind and and dead eye were wasted among the followers of Ellistrae where she was raised. Her mother had even treated her father as an equal and demanded that she, a female, give him the same respect as she gave her mother.

The shame was unbearable and it was a disease that begged a cure. When finally she felt strong enough to survive the trip to another city, she decided it was time for her to be the leech.

Slitting the throats of her parents as they lay sleeping, Radra gathered what she could carry and left. There would be only one future for her - the one she made with her own two hands.

I don't want to be too nitpicky or disabusing, but if raised by Eilistraeens, how did Radra get ideas about female superiority? This seems like an important detail. How did she come to think of her parents' liberalness (equal treatment) as shameful? My understanding is that drow matriarchal behavior is learned, not innate. That is to say, males/females have to learn by experience (usually indoctrination) to think of themselves as inferior/superior; they aren't born that way.

Just think of the drow patriarchal societies following gods like Vhaeraun, where the roles are reversed and the males are superior. Clearly the society can go either way (or indeed be relatively gender neutral, as in the case of Eilistraeens) . . so all this points towards the behavior being learned.

I suppose is the same case when a drow leaves the Lloth faith, hence the "usual" drow society, in which the matriachs rules, and as renegade goes away to surface and takes the Eilistrae faith ; )

They are the fewer but is not impossible

I mean it could be possible Radra heard or read something about Lloth and the "pure" and mighty drow society in which the females rules. Then she started to feel inside a kind of rejecting to the Eilistrae drow society and she kept on learning about Lloth and those drow females who ruled over the males.

It has sense for me or that is what I have read "between the lines" about Radra background (well I have a lot of imagination but those are my thoughts ; )

There areL so few followers of Ellistrae in relation to the number of followers of Lloth than it is likely she had direct exposure to traditional Drow society. Also, like any other faction, it is doubtful that the Ellistraens are ignorant of other major factions, even in their most isolated enclaves. And let us not forget that the child is not always like the parents ; ).

I like the story but you need to explain us,

A. What was the driving force, which lead Radra to abandon her background as an Eilistraeen?
B. How has she found Szith?
C. How has she reacted towards its very different society rules? Has she adapted them?
D. Has she got accepted by the society? Is this the reason Radra seeks the protection of House Morcane?

((Yes, this is all possible. De'Lara's background has some similarities... just that Radra and De'Lara seem to flip flop on the extremes. Perhaps there was a crazy aunt or something that Radra spent a lot of time with and learned all sorts of things...))

((I have no problem with any similarities))

just an ooc note - any similarity to another bio is purely coincidental in that I did not read any of them before posting - apologies if bio offends due to similarities

Radra slipped her leather jerkin over her silk shirt. As she stood in front of the mirror she admired the workmanship of her armor as she traced the outline of her house insignia with her fingertip.

"At last," she thought,"I will claim the birthright that should have been mine." She smiled.

She knew her parents had loved her, but what was love in the underdark? It had no value, it could not be bought and sold. It could not grant you power.

And it had been a hard journey throught the underdark, but she had to get away from there. Everyone where she was raised knew who and what her parents were - there would be no chance to to realize her ambitions there.

"No matter, things will be different now..."

Radra gagged slightly as she cut apart the remains of the bombadier beetles in the souther caverns. De"Lara had told her to find her ring the goblins had taken - and this seemed the next logical place to search. They had slaughtered the goblins when they entered the caverns and found no ring.

When they encountered the beetles, the battle did not go as well. That is is when it occurred to Radra - if the beetles were a difficult battle for us, surely the goblins would not be able to stand against them. That's when her hand closed around a small metallic item as she sifted through the beetle's entrails.

She smiled ever so slightly. "Lloth has shown me favor today as she has before..." Thinking back to the life she left behind she remember how she had wandered aimlessly through the underdark for a fortnight, hungry, and bleeding from an unsuccessful battle with a pair of goblins she was at the end of her strength. Certain that she would die, she stumbled and rolled down a sloping passge right into the camp of a drow maerchant caravan.

Instead of killing her, or enslaving her, the caravan mistress chose mercy - surely not out of a sense of altruism, though. First she questioned Radra and learned of what skills she had. Resourceful as ever, Radra had acquired some skill and knowledge in spite of her parents' sins. A fortunate turn of events in that currently a jaluk was keeping the books for the caravan. The mistress rightly believed a jalil was more suited to such a position of rsponsibility. Radra smiled a bit more obviously. She remembered how she had discovered that the jaluk had been skimming money from the caravan - what an opportunity and revelation that had been. She showed the caravan mistress the books which resulted in the immediate execution of her predecessor. Radra chuckled ever so slightly. It was at that moment the caravan mistress began to trust her, she became irreplaceable for the time being, and there was now no one to discover her creative book keeping...

The jaluk had told De'Lara that Radra's group had failed to recover the lost ring from the goblins. Later, De'Lara hears of Radra's resourcefulness in recovering the ring from the bombadier beetles. De'Lara says to herself, "Never trust a jaluk to do a jalil's job." *thinks Radra could use a good bath*

Radra chuckled as she laid down to rest that night. She was still consumed with mirth from watching that stupid jaluk get beaten by his own slave. He was so weak. Clearly he had been kind to his slave.... otherwise she would not have been able to manipulate it so easily.

A loud laugh emitted from from Radra as she once again envisoned Rizzen enlarging the dwarf then seening it pummel Maximvs into the ground. "Stupid jaluk... he just did not know when to walk away or yield...."

"Yes...walk away", she thought. Her thoughts drifted of to Mezzoberan. After several months of travel, the merchant caravan was headed there = it was where the family of her jabbress was based. She had done well, so the jabbress thought, and her jabbress was going to ask her family to accept Radra as an apprentice - but first they would have to review the books and calculate the final take of the season.... That would not do, no not at all. Perhaps Radra's jabbress was easy to deceive, but her family would not be - they were far too succesful at plying their trade to be anything other than very competent. The caravan books would stand no serious scrutiny.

As much as Radra yearned to advance herself, for money made a good substitute for power, she did not want to risk the consequences of discovery. Most likely they would have been final and painful.

Once the caravan set it last camp for the season on the outskirts of the captial she had decided it was time to act. During the third watch of the cycle, she took the caravan charts. In spite of travelling for months, her knowledge of the underdark was limited - and she had to get away, far away, But before leaving the camp, she had to delay pursuit. Murder would have given her away... so she placed some of the gems she had stolen into the bags of her jabbress. She chuckled softly. "That should be an interesting conversation." And with that, she headed back towards the last settlement they had visited....

Radra sat on her bed and softly played her lute...puasing every now and then to reflect.... She had met a jalil scholar from Menzoberranzan. Not a remarkable thing in itself - Szith had many visitors from the far stretches of the underdark. But... there was something troubling about this one... she had told Radra that she was looking for her... no reason why... at least not an obvious one.

She was certain that she had covered her tracks well when she left the merchant caravan, but now... she was not so sure. She replayed the details in her head... wondering where she could have gone wrong. First she had gone to the settlement - there she found another shebali... with a similar build and height - only this shebali had not been as successful as Radra had. It did not take much gold to hire the jalil as a servant... and little more to get the "poor thing" to agree to set out into the underdark with her.

It was all too easy to kill her once they were a day's march away... then Radra got to work. She dressed the shebali in her silken garments... and the wonderful riivil hat she had taken from a darthiir slave - she still chuckled remembering the look on the slave's face when she took it. Once the clothes were changed... and more stolen gems were planted on the body.. she smashed the face against the cavern wall...

forgot to mention it earlier in the story - but Radra had given the caravan a false name - wouldn't do in case they were familiar with the settlement from which she came

The meeting with the Ulathtallar had gone well... At its close, the Ulathtallar pulled out 2 sealed letters and handed her one of them... instructing her to hand it to one of the yathrinen at the door.

The Ulathtallar had told her that one of the letters instructed the yathrinen to kill her, and the other... well the other was a ticket to leave the meeting alive. Radra did not care if the ulathtallar was trying to intimidate her. She knew the value of the information that she had given the Ulathtallar and the value of the research she had shared with her. Radra knew that for the moment, she was too valuble to burn in the fires at the temple.

Now it was time to find Rizzen... she needed to learn all she could of diabolical contracts and baatezu law since she may have the opportunity to review the contract Amenia had signed with her pet Eyrines. Perhaps something could be found in it that would work to her advantage... or the advantage of House Morcane...

Radra then smiled to herself as she walked back towards the house... She congratualted herself on how well she had described the yathrin who did not punish an insolent shebali jaluk then talked of teaching jalukan to trust and think for themselves...xas... that had gone well. The Ulathtallar had graciously accepted Radra's apology for not punishing the yathrin since it was not her place... that pleased the Ulathtallar who affirmed that it was not. However, she saw the wheels turning behind those placid eyes and emotionless expression...xas, the wheels had begun to turn... With the mission the Ulathtallar had given her... perhaps some authority to act would be needed...

As Radra stripped off her armor, she smiled to herself. It had been an interesting patrol to Q'os... xas, most interesting. She had encountered Tindridia Kallas, a shebali, leading the Mori'hyanda pet Eyrines and two jalukan.

Naturally, Radra could not leave them in such poor hands... so she did the right thing for Szith... she assumed command.

It was a most enlightening patrol. Apparently, the shebali Tindridia holds some fascination for the Eyrines... she kept complaining that it would not leave her alone and followed her everywhere.

Also... there was a matter o Tindridia's other name... clearly a source of amusement for the baatezu, but not so much... for Tindridia. An interesting secret that she would have to learn... and possibly exploit. That could wait until she made her report about the Eyrines, though...

Yes, it is getting interesting. We communicate via PMs every day or two, allowing a quick exchange of information and RP. The PMs allow the information to be rapidly passed on for reply and helps to move the plot line(s) on in an efficient manner. I also exchange PMs with Anya. Anyone else, feel free to PM me. I try to check PMs before logging on and will check again later. I also try to say "Hi" when I log into the game so that I can finish greetings then get on to RP.

Radra smirked all the way to the temple... Tindridia's "other name" was humiliating and degrading - which made it extremely amusing to Radra...

At last, though, the little jalil had provided her with something useful.. at last there was evidence that, at the very least, would embarrass the Mori'hyanda... they had a summoned an Eyrines that is trying to force and persuade Drow to worship the Baatezu!

The ulathtallar would get a copy of the testimony Radra had taken... but so would De'Lara... She smirked again... there will be no hiding it...

The meeting had gone well... very well indeed. Radra laughed softly. Dragons...HA! They like to think themselves clever and subtle... did Eleuthera really think that she would be unprepared for her veiled threats?

All the worry about heretics and baatezu activity made half-breeds, especially dragon half-breeds, a lesser concern. Radra was not going to share that with Eleuthera - after all, she made such efforts to conceal what she was... it was time to make that useful...

Eyruuad had been most helpful in instructing Radra on how a half dragon might be identified... she would have to find a way to thank him... once she was done with her new tool....

Radra stewed as she slaughtered the bugbears.... That arrogant little witch... forbid me...ME...from disciplining a jaluk...and commanding a jaluk.... There would be a reckoning...

The precious yathrin could have her way for now. She can choose to protect her precious little brother... it mattered not... in fact... it might play to her favor.

Radra began to calm and the wheels began to turn. "First... I will tell the Ulathtallar... that I suspect heresy.." she thought. Perhaps enough suspician could be raised... for a special interview at the temple. Radra laughed. "Xas... a few hours being tortured would do her good... and perhaps.. they may find something... unusual in her bags..." Radra laughed again.

"And if all else fails... perhaps I will have the dragon... eat her..."

Radra chuckled as she heard the news of Eleuthera's ascension. If she only knew about the politics that had taken place only a few days prior to her ...acquiring the position...nau...it is better this way...that she should be ignorant of how many actually know that she is a half dragon. It will make Melee easier to control... whether her dear sister realizes it or not.

ooc Radra had nothing to do with E getting the position, but as she sees it, she was instrumental in preventing opposition through certain efforts that can not currently be discussed because...well can't discuss that either, you'll all just have to wait and see what happens :p

Radra massaged her wrists as she rested against the cave wall. It was going to be a hard walk to the surface after that beating. Peering into the shadows, she smiled slightly.

It had been more painful than she had anticipated, but it would be worth it. Everything had gone as planned. She was now well established as a heretic in Szith....and a fugtive. The only thing that could have gone better is that Anya could have died of her wounds, but perhaps it was better this way. For now, at least.

Even though events unfolded as expected, she still would not forget the Mori'hyanda rothe striking her...or Anya. When she returns victorious to Szith, they will have to pay for the insult.

Eleuthera has to see Radra for a long time. Something inside her tells her Radra is planning something, a move which noone has predicted so far...

Ceil was upset by the beating and spent most of the day very angry at everything: Szith, Lolth, Radra, The World....yes, everything. He drank a lot and passed out in his room.

When he came to many hours later, he was stiff all over and had a terrible hangover, but somehow the physical nature of the pain -- and the fact that it was his own not Radra's -- made him feel better.

He washed up, tried to clear his head, cleaned his sword and polished his armor though they didn't need it, and made sure all his other equipment was in order before heading out...

"Elg'caress!" he cursed loudly after being told she'd gone fugitive, and might have gotten into trouble but the female he was talking to pretended not to notice. He nodded this thanks and sat down a ways away to think.

It's good that she's gone, she'll be safer, she's smart enough...to take care of herself, but...dammit, why openly attack in the middle of the city like that. I know they hate each other but it doesn't make any sense, I mean why?.....Gah.

Ceil cursed for a few minutes before deciding that whatever Radra's reasons were, she'd either gone insane or he wouldn't be able to figure them out by himself: I need to speak with her, but she could be anywhere by now.....will I ever see her again? Ceil frowned and brooded on this unwelcome thought for awhile.

Radra cursed the paladins as she walked in the forest alone... they "know" she is evil and lying..yet strangely...she had told them the truth... They were just like the yathrinen...intent on their power, their will...and the death of any who they deemed...suitable for such....Such awful ...wonderful power! If only they could be made to serve her interests...the deception would have to be great and subtle.

Gaining the trust and friendship of the surfacers was easy when they were not around. Perhaps she could perform a service for them...or the temple..to gain their favor...

The raid could not have gone better than if Radra had planned it all...to the very detail. The Servants of the Light came to repel the drow raiding party - and they had seen her fall nad be taken prisoner while defending the pathetic lunar temple. And if that was not enough, she helped one of them escape their drow captors. The progress in her mission was wonderful.

The only thing that made the raid better was that many of the Sotl were slaughtered during the raid and the temple was destroyed. It was difficult for Radra not to laugh as she saw the flames consume the temple...

Lying on the bed in her room at the Inn in Q'os, Radra laughed softly to herself as she ate the meal her rothe had prepared for her. The Ulathtallar and the Valsharess were now in HER debt. The ulathtallar had told her about the Handmaiden on Lloth who had come to Szith to communicate Lloth's displeasure. Now the Ulathtallar had something to offer to appease her. Who would have thought that the ilharess of the Dev'lins was a mere firgurehead...and the house was ruled by a jaluk...Radra had suspected that they were weak....just not that weak. She had even learned of certain Dev'lin jalukan providing information and assistance to the Ellistraens on the surface. There was other information she had provided the Ulathtallar...but this was by far the most valuable. Perhaps while she awaited the escort from the temple she would learn something of more traitors dealing with Nathan Garronar since she had free passage through Nyr now....

She smiled as she continued to eat. Also that rothe who had struck her before the exile would be hers... to tutor in manners... how dare that beast strike her...well she would learn to regret it and perhaps even wish for death...which will not come...well not without pain anyway....

The wine was exquisite - probably one of the best bottles from the ulathtallar's collection. Radra felt she deserved no less, though. Especially considering how badly the ulathtallar had broken her shoulder with her morning star - all to put on a good show for the masses. Eventually she thought that the ultathtallar should be repaid in kind, but the wine and silks were buying much forgiveness. Also, the amusing prospect of the meeting with the ilharessan, especially the Dev'lin ilharess softened her mood towards her rough handling. Briefly, she wondere if she would have to return to her cell to entertain vistors. No matter, she concluded, she could wear the silks under her prison rags.

Ceil sits in the middle of the bed exhausted, watching Dlillen smiling at him as she dresses near a couch. He closes his eyes, and it's Radra smiling at him with a much more possessive expression. He opens them again to see Dlillen. Closes, Radra. Opens, Dlillen. With a sigh he lies back, staring at the ceiling in what she must assume is a very satisfied exhaustion.

But only half of Ceil is satisfied. The half of him that loves Dlillen's wonderful kindness and all the wild tales she tells of her prior life somewhere in the Vilhon Reach on the surface.

The other half, the half that lusts for Radra's domination, is very deeply pained. For she is a prisoner locked in the temple, to be tried and executed very soon, and they won't let him visit her.

His eyes tear up and he turns over to muffle his face with a pillow so Dlillen won't notice his anguish.
