UPDATE: links you can help edit...
http://tfr.scribblewiki.com/Drow_dictionary
http://tfr.scribblewiki.com/Drow_primer
I'll probably post this on TFR once the sites up, but let's get started here.....
I am going to being writing two in-game books, which will probably be OOC items. One of them will be a better drow dictionary that has words more commonly used in Szith currently. The most common ones will be at the top, along with their plurals. For example, I'm pretty sure the first few entries will be something like:
Code: | yes: xas | no: nau | not: naut | dos: you | dosst: your
male: jaluk jalukul | female: jalil jalilen
mistress: jabbress jabbressen
master: jabbuk jabbukes
priestess: yathrin yathrinen
matron: ilharess ilharessen
queen: valsharess
king: valuk valukes
vith dos: thank you |
....Aalright fine, maybe not that last one=P
The second book will be very barebones, basic primer. Suppose you've never ever seen the word "drow", know nothing about them, and by some happenstance decide to create one on TFR. This book should help you get started as quickly as possible. Males bow to females, don't brandish weapons in the city, spiders and yathrinen are venerated, the females rule over males, etc. etc. It won't be a lecture on the finer points of Illythiir, Araushnee and the Crown wars, nothing like that. No fancy background stuff you can look up on Wikipedia later, just the basic basic basic things you need to know to start playing what amounts to an inexperienced adolescent of either gender.
So feel free to to respond below with additions/thoughts/suggestions -- your participation will help make these as useful as possible. _________________ I know not with what devices D&D 5E will be played, but D&D 6E will be played with papers and pencils.

Heh, Vith Dos doent mean thank you....Vith is the drow word for Sex also used as the word F**k. Vith dos of course meaning F**k you. lol just thought i would point that out before someone accidently says it thinking they are thanking someone. Boy they would be confused when that person is like "What? I kill you!" lol. Sorry just tryin to help |

yeah nice idea should be useful to the community.
it might be worthwhile to put a short discourse in the primer on how to not rp a 1st level newbie unhoused yathrin
here's some Szith slang for you:
Celith's favorite expletitive (which if course he invented) is "hsst!" which roughly translates as "shit", "crap" or "damn" depending upon the situation. |

Some noble jaluken need to learn that none housed females still are above them... it causes some IC problems but nothing that cant be handled IC... even if Aly becomes a morcane she wont RP a noble just a member of the court _________________ "The battle lasted for the better part of the day and the blood ran like rivers." wait i thought shebali (even jabressen) were below nobles.
iirc some of the stuff on the mori boards reads this way.
obviously that does not mean you get to piss on them but nor should a shebali presume to boss a noble around.
ooc as i have mentioned before i dont think its a good idea for an unhoused low level newbie jabress (or yathrin) to attempt to boss around anyone of a higher rank than them.
they should get a good understanding of whats going on before they attempt to throw their weight around. |

females are still the favored of Lloth*... noble or not. Check the forum for the social structure of Sizith males... even nobles are little more then slaves. _________________ "The battle lasted for the better part of the day and the blood ran like rivers." Mathew of Edessa |

just for the record I have only seen one playing with a low level none housed female who played it like she owned the world(queen bee)... that was banshee's PC and Radra put her in her place real quick... I havn't seen banshee on her Drow since then. _________________ "The battle lasted for the better part of the day and the blood ran like rivers." Mathew of Edessa |

From what I heard, the Mori Ilharess tore up Banshee's char something fierce... seemed like it was an IC and OOC thrashing!!! _________________ De'Lara, Ilharess of House Morcane |
